Cannabis timeline

Dear child many names: Marijuana, marijuana, hemp, pot, weed, sacred green, cannabis, hash, hashish, charas and ganja are all examples of concepts from different cultures and traditions that cover one and the same thing, namely cannabis.

It is recommended to review the timeline. Look especially closer to what happened in 1910 and 1937 - there were historical turning points for cannabis. Another turning point is Nixon's "War on Drugs", which began in 1968, and spread to most of the world in afterwards.

You will also find information about some of the useful things that cannabis has been used for throuh time, which disorders the plant has used for over time and why so many clinical trials are taking place these years.

The link below is a radio interview with Jonas Østergaard who is interviewed by Søren Rasted for "a man with a case" about cannabis history:

Evidence of early ritual shamanism led him to think that man might better be described as sapiens spiritualis, thus the spiritual man - rather than the simple toolmaker, known as sapiens sapiens. The same was true of Carl Sagan in 1977. He believed that the cannabis plant could be the very source that inspired the modern civilization, because of its mind-altering effect.

1910 The Mexican Revolution caused an influx of Mexican immigrants to the United States who reportedly introduced Cannabis (or Maria and Juana = Marijuana) for recreational purposes (instead of it Générale drug use) which was widespread in American society. In addition, the name of traditional attachment to person name María Juana ( 'Mary Jane') probably from folk music.

The original Mexican Spanish is used with the letter ⟨h E (marijuana). Forms that use the letter ⟨j (marijuana) seems to be an innovation of English, and their subsequent appearance in French and Spanish is probably due to English influence. The name Cannabis plant is from Greek κάνναβις (cannabis), via Latin cannabis Originally a Scythian or Thracian word, också loaned into Persian as Kanab. English hemp (Old English hemp) kan være early loan (predating Grimm's Law) from the same Scythian source.

1916 US Department of Agriculture (USDA) chief researchers Jason L. Merrill and Lyster H. Dewey made paper made from hemp lot. It has concluded that hemp lot was 'favorably compared to those who did it with wood' in USDA Bulletin No. 404. From the book 'The Emperor's New Clothes' by Jack Herer, USDA Bulletin N. 404 reported that a hectare of hemp grown in annual rotation over a 20-year period, would produce as much pulp as 4.1 hectares (17,000 m2) trees being cut in the same 20-year period.

This process for hemp mass would use only 1/7 to 1/4 as much polluting sulfur-based acid chemicals to break down the glue-like lignin, which binds the fibers in the pulp. The problem of dioxin contamination of rivers is avoided in the hemp paper manufacturing process that does not need to use chlorine bleach (which træmassepapirfremstillingsprocessen requires), but replaces rather than hydrogen peroxide in the bleaching process.

If the new (1916) hemp lot of paper process were legal today it would soon replace about. 70% of all pulp paper, including computer printer paper, corrugated paper and paper bags. Mass production of cheap novelty prints from hemp was not developed in any country, and hemp was a relatively easy target because factories had already made large investments in equipment to handle cotton, wool and linen, while there were relatively small investments in hemp production.

In 1937, 14 April in the United States, something happens that changes everything 'The Marijuana Tax Act'. As a result of Prohibition 1920-1933 where there was nationwide alcohol ban and focus on the religious revival as we saw above. While others (Al Capone) was busy building his criminal empire and spin gold on alcohol ban. The picture shows the then new tax certificate, which made it illegal for anyone else to produce, sell and use.

Prohibition era ended in 1933 and in some states only later, suggesting a clash with 'The Marijuana Tax Act' in order to sell more alcohol, but it would be a whole book for themselves, to take it up. 28 medical cannabis products were taken off the market in 1937 and put an end to the medical cannabis research and development, the next 30 years in the United States.

Before 'The Marijuana Tax Act' that criminalized cannabis, suggested Dr. William C. Woodward Congress, on behalf of the American Medical Association (AMA), the AMA no known evidence that marijuana (cannabis) was a hazardous substance and warned that a ban would not contain the information that a future study could show, and that there were significant medical options for the use of cannabis. His comments were ignored by Congress.

Part of the testimony for Congress to gennemfløre 1937 Act, comes from articles in newspapers owned by William Randolph Hearst, who had significant economic interests in the timber industry, which produced his newspaper pulp and paper thereof. Some believe that the purpose of 'The Marijuana Tax Act' law was to reduce the size of the existing hemp industry since it was incredibly cheap as a substitute for pulp, after the invention 'decorticator'en' as seen in the picture. Businessmen end Andrew Mellon, Randolph Hearst, and Du Pont family claims it was Hearst opinion that this was a threat to his great træbedrifter.

    Map

Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury and the richest man in the United States at that time had invested heavily in the Du Pont family's new synthetic fiber, nylon, a new-developed fiber that competed with hemp at this time. DuPont company and many historians have since argued that it was to compete with silk and rayon. The only authoritarian who opposed Anslinger's campaign against cannabis, besides Dr. William C. Woodward, was mayor of New York, Fiorello La Guardia, who appointed a committee of inquiry in 1938, who in 1944 protested strongly against Anslinger's campaign with the famous La Guardia Committee.

    Map

La Guardia Committee Report: Marijuana problem in New York City was released in 1944 as one of the first systematic studies dealing with many of the myths about cannabis, including: the alleged connection to the 'madness'; addictive potential; putative role as a 'gateway' to the other materials; usage patterns; and potentially to crime and violence. The report published by Nyam concluded that 'the sociological, psychological and medical illnesses commonly caused by cannabis, have proved to be exaggerated. Although spelling 'Marijuana' is more common in current use in the United States, the actual spelling used in tax law Marijuana, 'marijuana'. 'Marijuana' was the spelling most commonly used in federal and government documents at the time.

Moreover stamped The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 use of the term 'marijuana' as a label for hemp and cannabis plants and products in the US and around the world, why not mentioned cannabis more. Before 1937, 'marijuana' slang, according to the history books; it was not included in any official dictionaries. The word marijuana is probably of Mexican origin. Mexico even had a ban on exports to the United States in 1925 after the International Opium Convention.

Marijuana is according to The Sacret Plant, a combination of two common Mexican names; Maria and Juana, since no one knew the name Marijuana, known AMA, the then US health authorities, not to the substance, since they knew of cannabis medicinal properties and how could those in power manipulate the law and the people, at the same time. In the years leading up to the tax law, the common use in the United States, 'smoked like tobacco' and called 'ganjah' or 'ganja'. After legislation could be illegal immigrants and American citizens being arrested for possession of cannabis / ganjah, with the new name Marijuana.

1939-1945 The citizens of the Third Reich, was on cannabis, and looked down at it. Instead Germans speed at national level; The German army Blitzkreig attacks through France was only made possible through the widespread use of methamphetamine by Wehrmacht soldiers; Luftwaffe air force, Hermann Göring, the morphine addict; and Adolf Hitler, the famous teetotaler and vegetarian, was indeed a hopeless junkie, his last days spent in trembling and sweating retreat, his arms covered with scars, and asked for a second injection of the random melange of vitamins, hormones, methamphetamine, oxycodone and sometimes morphine that had kept him started in the war.

Through five years of research by Norman Ohler and udgivelesen of his book blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich this month. Blitzed is the first nonfiction book by Ohler, a German writer who originally started researching on the project with a historical novel in mind. As these data showed more and more explosive revelations about the Nazis' dirty hidden habit decided Ohler to tell the whole story to the public. The substance was focused on the blitzed was methamphetamine, with the brand name Pervitin produced in staggering quantities of the German pharmaceutical industry, then the most advanced in the world.

The effect of amphetamine on an entire population on top of the purchase are German, is apparently not a nice combination and here we must say that cannabis has the opposite characteristics that clearly stepped forward during the Vietnam War.

1942-1950 Early pharma logical studies after the Philippines fell to the Japanese forces in 1942 called on the Department of Agriculture and US Army farmers to grow hemp fiber. Small areas for the cultivation of fiber hemp began to be issued to farmers to produce ropes. Without any change in the Marijuana Tax Act was 400,000 hectares (1,600 km2) cultivated with hemp between 1942 and 1945. The last commercial hemp fields were planted in Wisconsin in 1957.

This would provide a source of the subsequent report from the Indian hemp Drugs Commission. Documentation of ganja / cannabis production, necessitating that udslætter male plants from 'ganja medicine' to prevent fertilization and increasing resin production was emphasized.

Watt noted that cannabis was valuable as a remedy for headaches, and especially to prevent such attacks from occurring. It removes the jittery effects of the malady. Watt built numerous modern European medical clinics in the subcontinent and their success in treating a variety of disorders with cannabis preparations.

Kerr found that moderate use of cannabis drugs had no noticeable physical effects on the body. As with all drugs, excessive use weaken the body and make them more susceptible to diseases. Such circumstances were not unique to cannabis, however. Moderate cannabis drugs had no negative effect on the brain, except possibly for persons entitled to act abnormally. Excessive use, however, can lead to mental instability and eventually to the insanity of individuals who are exposed to heredity to mental disorders.

Moderate use of cannabis drugs had no negative impact on morale. Excessive use may result in moral degradation. Although in some rare cases, cannabis intoxication can result in violence, such instances were few and far between. The Commission therefore proposed state repression of cannabis drugs. Many positive statements accompanied by descriptions of their religious associations, and especially its medicinal use, both human and veterinary purposes.

However, it is interesting to note that while the substances now seems to be often used for the same purposes and in the same way as was recommended centuries ago, Cannabis sometimes about to be regarded as one of the most important substances of Indian Materia Medicia.

1968 Nixon campaign. The following qoute from Forbes, it shows how the campaign was designed to go after hippies and blacks in society and maintain power and keep the resistance groups down.

'The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House afterthat, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we kan not make it illegal two be enten against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and simply criminalizing botheration heavily, we kan Disrupt dem communities. We kan arrest sina leaders, raid homes sina, sina break up meetings, and vilify themself night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.' (John Ehrlichman, counsel and Assistant til President for Domestic Affairs under Nixon, in the latest issue of Harper, one of those moments).

The strategy was a very conscious way to go after hipppier who smoke pot and blacks who used heroin, to infiltrate their environments and rebel groups, and access scars search their homes, arresting their leaders and destroying communities. With such tricks I sleeved one can sit on the power a little longer and marijuana has since been associated with something negative, for those who did not know better.

2010 Marc Emery from Vancouver, Canada, was sentenced on Sept. 10 in a US District Court in Seattle to five years in prison and four years of monitoring for 'conspiracy to produce marijuana' (including the sale of marijuana seeds that do not contain THC). 2010 Proposition 19 to legalize cannabis in California introduced with retroactive effect (called The Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010).

October 2010 Just weeks before the election on Nov. 2 in California on Prop. 19 Attorney General Eric Holder said federal authorities would continue to enforce US laws that declare the substance illegal even if voters approve the initiative, stating we will vigorously enforce the (Controlled Drug Act) against those individuals and organizations that possess, manufacture or distribute cannabis for recreational use. 2010 California Proposition 19, also known as Regulatory, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010, was narrowly defeated with 53.6% of votes.

This would have legalized various Cannabis-related activities in California, which allows local governments to regulate these activities. Allowing local governments to impose and collect Cannabis-related fees and taxes, and allow various criminal and civil penalties as it is in California now.

Today there is growing attention to Nixon's war on drugs, which obviously went beyond marijuana, to include tough mandatory sentences for small drug offenses also was a big mistake. The high costs of this war and the racist undertones have been one reason for the new liberalization, not to mention the economic and health winnings by liberalization. The US has the highest imprisonment rate among all nations in the world where this industry is also privatized and therefore a business to make money.

Only in 2012 was 1.55 million people arrested for non-violent drug offenses in the United States, and nearly half of all drug judgments in this connection went for marijuana-related offenses. More and more Americans recognize the serious racial differences caused by US drug policy, since larger groups of people have not had the opportunity to organize themselves, and had destroyed their lives and family because of the small cannabis convictions.

Here, the rule of three offenses in a row, set many users of cannabis in prison, to regulate their emotions or health. One must remember that when there are many in prison, as has been the case in the United States, there is a need for prison's seats, why there is an industry that provides the state with this service. Once these Christmas is set in motion, it's hard to go the other way and here I am not aware of reports about how many people have been released in connection with the legalization of cannabis in the US prisons.

2015 US Federal Government opens up research on cannabis again. After a ban on hundreds of years, opens for the American cannabis research once again, perhaps it is because all the right people and investors have been positioned themselves. As research and patents have been made and registered in the illegal period, one can assume that it has given researchers and companies with clearance to investigate a lead, which is now large enough that others may participate in the competition.

Here, Israel's basic research and 760 million people worldwide, thankfully this industry fight. July 24, 2015 By passage of Senate Bill 5052 comes Washington State Medical Marijuana completely under the control of the recently mentioned Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB).

Police in Denmark cancels visitation zone in Nørrebro, as they believe to have control of the gang war. This occurs one month after the last shooting where a young man was killed. Here, using the police instead energy in Christiania where about 220 were arrested in 2017, 106 people only in December.

These matters are now debated in the media, since it appears that the witnesses in the case have been instructed what to say. Despite the great efforts made by the police, it has nothing changed for the consumption of cannabis in Denmark, so you can only see it as an old political signal that no longer recommended by WHO.

2018 Pilot scheme starts in Denmark, with a small number of patients, doctors and authorities point out that there is no valid documentation of cannabis as medicine. 2018 January 1 got cannabis company Canngros as the only allowed to import cannabis flower for medical use to Denmark from Holland. (5 grams, £ 790, -) Besides two flower products, plans CannGros eventually to import cannabis grown in Canada, and launch other dosage forms, such as oils and capsules.

As we saw, cannabis has a long history behind it and has been used by many different cultures over time, set against a wide variety of ailments and diseases. Many people have gradually come forward and said that they use or have used cannabis recreational or associated with disease, so that through the book will be qoutes and pictures that are related to cannabis. Cannabis is today, tested and used by many and there is also plenty of evidence throughout history that supports the plant's medicinal and therapeutic properties, the question is whether we as a society are able to recognize this.

Hope it was a good story!
